Now retired, Peter spent most of his working life in social services. This included appointments as a senior manager in two local authority social services departments, and as a member of the Central Advisory Service in the former Scottish Office (now Scottish Government).
His experience with voluntary organisations includes as:
• Regional Manager of Relate, following his retirement;
• A trustee and UK Council Member of Action for Children and Vice-Chair of its Scotland Committee; and
• A trustee and Chair of the Board of Relationships Scotland (the national body for Relate counselling and Family Mediation in Scotland).
After retirement he completed a Masters Degree course at Glasgow University where his research project was concerned with the contract culture and voluntary organisations which provide community care.

Peter was elected in 2022 as our new treasurer after previously supporting our ex-treasurer with the finances with a particular focus on improving our reporting and governance.
