Plant Sale Raises Funds For Climate Friendly Projects

by Kadun Rees & Lorna Brown

Another successful year for our annual plant sale. A huge diolch/thank you to all those who donated, bought and helped out at the stall.

For the opening day on May 1st, we joined up with BRACE’s seed and seedling swap & sale in the Community Gardens and raised £180. We then moved to our usual spot in the forecourt of Llanfyllin Spar.

Last year we were able to raise £2,700. Our previous plant sale ran during lockdown, when garden centres were closed. This meant we were one of the only places in the area where you could buy your garden goods.

Bearing this in mind, it is an incredible success that this year we raised £2,400!

We could have raised even more if we had more plants to sell.

Some of the money raised has already been used to fund places for participants on the June Permaculture course in Jinja. The remaining funds will go to the Tree and Bamboo planting at schools and smallholder farms. There are now more than 15,386 fruit and timber trees distributed, 4000 tree seedlings and 1000 bamboos waiting in the nursery. You can read more on the project in the previous post.

Although it is now too late to purchase any plants from us, if you still want to get involved, or donate, please get in touch with us.

We cannot wait to see you all again outside Spar Llanfyllin next year.
