You’ve read about some of our projects in Cordelia’s report and there is an update of the other projects on the final page. All of these, needless to say, need funding. We have to make this plea in every newsletter and we do appreciate that people can get very fed up with constantly being asked to donate by an inordinately large number of charities. Our big advantage is that you all know that virtually every penny raised goes out to Uganda to our projects. In the UK we are all unpaid volunteers, we pay our own personal expenses here and every trip to Uganda is either self-funded or met by grants from outside bodies. Our only expenses are for essential printing, postage and stationery costs, bank charges and payments to our auditors in the UK and Uganda. The spring sale, as always, was most enjoyable and raised the terrific sum of £1746, with a further £659 from the grand draw. We were extremely grateful to Simon and Maggie Baynes for donating £1000 from their Open day at Bodfach Hall this year. Here they are presenting the cheque to our new treasurer, Nick Christoforou, at the Llanfyllin Show.

Coming up is a folk concert in Llanfechain Village Hall, organised by Cate Wallington, on 8 October and we’re sure it will be just as enjoyable and successful as the last one. Our wholehearted thanks to all the individuals and groups who have supported our events and donated this year, especially those who have done so through standing orders. As always, if anyone has any fundraising ideas, please do get in touch. If you would be willing to do something yourself we would support you every inch of the way and we would be enormously grateful.
