DFEFH has acquired 30 acres of land beside the River Nile near the town of Kamuli. The land includes a small house, with 6 bunk beds, and provides a secure store for materials and equipment. It has a 10,000 litre rain water catchment tank and a latrine and wash house. The house will be occupied by a resident supervisor. DFEFH will become a centre for livestock and agro-forestry, with a conference centre and laboratory.
A tree nursery has been established and orange and other trees have been planted. There will also be plenty of scope to earn income from the sale of crops so that the project will become self-sustaining.
DFEFH will host training, both within the local farming community and for much larger enterprises and there scope for hiring out the land and facilities to other organisations. A very successful Permaculture course, organised and run by Dolen Ffermio member Steve Jones of Sector 39 took place in 2016 and he hopes to offer more courses in the future. There are also plans to link with Aberystwyth University.
DFEFH is Moses Kitimbo Connie Kauma, Wilberforce Isanga, Paul Musenero, Rachael Nairuba and Daniel Kitimbo.
